Create and manage a database

Provision PostgreSQL with the right region, plan, version, and lifecycle controls.

7 minute read ยท Updated September 2026

Create a database

From Databases, choose Create database. Renviq validates the requested name, region, plan, PostgreSQL version, project quota, and cluster capacity before queuing provisioning.

  • Names should identify workload and environment, such as orders-production.
  • Region affects latency and data residency.
  • Version upgrades require a planned maintenance workflow; choose the version your framework supports.

Lifecycle states

  • Provisioning: infrastructure work is still running.
  • Available: accepts connections.
  • Suspended: connections are blocked while data is retained.
  • Failed: provisioning or an operation needs attention.
  • Deleting: removal is in progress and cannot be treated as available.

Safe operations

Use the database action menu for credential rotation, suspension, restoration, or deletion. Destructive actions require explicit confirmation and are recorded in the audit history.

Deletion is permanent

Export required data and verify retention policy before deleting a database. A deleted database is not the same as a suspended database.
